Quick reaction to fraudulent transcripts in Florida

A single massage school employee has been charged with issuing transcripts to more than 80 individuals who never attended classes. We commend the diligence of law enforcement in routing out the source of the fraudulent transcripts and correctly identifying and blaming the individual responsible rather than condeming the whole massage profession or even the school. We also appreciate that the Sun Sentinel has accurately reflected the culpability of the single, “rogue employee.” However, it is regrettable that those in posession of the fraudulent transcripts have been referred to as “masseusses” and “massage therapists,” throughout this article. This is comparable to calling someone guilty of impersonating a cop an “officer of the law.” They are not. They are imposters working with–or under the control of–criminals.
