Denver Sting Opens Eyes. Clarification Still Needed.
/In July, law enforcement and the media in Denver discovered women at establishments advertising massage have been brought in from China to be trafficked for commercial sex. Details about the circumstances of their participation in this operation are unclear based on information in the report, but at least one of the women has been arrested. We hope Denver authorities look into the culpability of those running this scheme, and get social services for its victims.
Liberal use of the term “massage parlor” is bound to blur the the distinction between massage and commercial sex for everyone who sees this report. Do we have anyone in Denver who can work with local media, law enforcement and policymakers to make sure our industry is represented and protected as these stings proceed?
