Reiki in Humboldt Park

While we constantly strive to "infiltrate" established institutions such as the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Chicago Police Department, Cook County Dept. of Corrections, medical schools, etc, to infuse them with an understanding of reiki, we continue to offer our services within underserved populations as well. 

We were asked to offer short reiki sessions at this church in Humboldt Park in Chicago as part of a pre-holiday service fair event. The holiday spirit of giving is so in keeping with the reiki philosophy, we were happy to accept. 

The event was well staffed and well attended to provide for this community. Food was being served in the kitchen through the double doors, and as attendees finished their meals, they came out to chat with various service providers. Orthotics, blood sugar testing, blood pressure testing, employment services—lots of support for those in need. 

Patrice was looking festive in her holiday hat, and Ziuta gave from her heart for each session. 

A highlight of the event for me was working with a man who seemed very unfocused and wouldn't look me in the eye. After his session, he looked me right in the eye, thanked me, and said he felt a lot better. I believe him. He looked a lot better. 

As a result of our participation, we were invited to offer reiki at the national Narcotics Anonymous Convention being held at McCormick Place in late January, another incredible opportunity to help folks in need. 

We're feeling tremendous gratitude for all we have been given, each experience, each connection, each step we take towards making reiki available to everyone.
